A online agency has agreed to drop a claim on its website that its open house method of selling properties achieved the best price in the shortest time after a complaint to the advertising watchdog.
The Advertising Standards Authority said that Elopa claimed on the website “that their Open House Method of selling properties achieved the best price and the shortest marketing period for clients”.
A spokeswoman for the ASA said: “After we approached the advertiser with our concerns, the company agreed to remove these claims from their website.”
The case was considered informally resolved.
Elopa is based in the north east and says on its website: “No catch, no fee. Sell your property for free.”
This morning its website was also saying: “Sell your property for FREE using our innovative Open House method. Designed to sell properties for the best price in a much shorter time than the traditional estate agent approach without charging you any selling fees at all.”
